The largest city in the Peruvian rainforest is certainly Iquitos, capital of Loreto and located in our tremendous Amazon. Just last year he received the official nomination as one of the 7 Natural Wonders of the World by the New 7 Wonders Foundation and along the Amazon River. At the meeting the main local authorities and the President Ollanta Humala attended.

This city can be reached by air or river via Pucallpa and Yurimaguas on fantastic journeys made in boats or sailing boats 3 or 4 days on the Ucayali river or the Maranon River. Once we arrived in Iquitos just simply take a look around, in the Plaza de Armas and avenues breathing life.

This charming and warm city was in the 70s a small city, today has more than 500,000 inhabitants and a thriving commercial movement, and many are foreigners who have stayed there forever.

Being a place of high temperatures, the visitor should not miss to try the ice cream and prepared raspadillas pure exotic fruit.

The neighborhood of Santo Tomas is a destination which anyway should be known, is located 16 km. Northeast of Iquitos on the banks of the Nanay river, its people are engaged in fishing and crafts demonstrating their art in wood, flakes, seeds and coconut. Definitely a place to wrap the color and magic of natural art.

Close to the center within walking distance of the Prospero avenue, is the market of Bethlehem, a busy place especially the famous Pasaje Paquito, where all the famous liquor and exotic that even were broadcast on the famous documentary video "Loreto, Italy "Brand Peru 2012 Many of these spirits suggest aphrodisiac effects and even" fertility "in the words of their vendors. Offering healers heal with medicine from the forest are also grouped.

In many of the stalls you can locate diverse traditional medicine made from the bark of chuchuhuasi, caspi iron, otochupa, cat's claw, Guigo and huayruro. They can also find many fruits, fresh plants and amulets to heal and protect. All thanks to the ancient wisdom of its people.
